Hong Kong International Airport
Hong Kong International Airport (also known colloquially as Chek Lap Kok Airport) has been Hong Kong’s principal airport since its opening to commercial traffic in 1998 – replacing the notorious Kai Tak Airport with its nail-biting approach to Runway 13 (it was said that you could see what people were watching on TV in their apartments!). Its Terminal 1 is currently the world’s third-largest terminal building.
Location
Hong Kong International Airport is located on reclaimed land on Chek Lap Kok island, on the western side of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and just 24 minutes away from Central Station by the Airport Express train.
