America’s 10 worst airport websites: No.1 – El Paso International Airport

El Paso International Airport is a public airport in El Paso County, Texas. Did I mention it’s international? I had to research their official website in depth for the article on El Paso International Airport here on CanDoCanGo.

One might expect many things from an international airport and one might expect many things from an international airport’s website, but seriously, one cannot expect what’s to be found at El Paso International Airport’s website.

I was blown away by this website myself!

First of all, there are some “regular” problems with El Paso International Airport’s website, such as the lack of an email address to contact them with, or the complete absence of driving directions (a Google Map link is provided, though!).

The lack of email and the lack of driving directions might be serious enough to cause some frustration to any visitor. But the real deal is when someone tries to browse about the accessibility services or any facilities the airport might have for travellers with special needs and finds nothing!

Not only is there no mention whatsoever of special needs, accessibility, ADA, wheelchairs etc, BUT their dedicated “Terminal services” page is just out of this world.

BEHOLD: El Paso International Airport: Terminal – Services

Here is a screenshot of that mind-blowing web page for everyone to see (I’ve marked the absurdities in red):

Screenshot of El Paso International Airport's "Terminal - Services" web page, annotated "LOLWUT?"

Yes, you’re seeing it right, folks!

Not only do they have NO information on accessibility whatsoever but the DEDICATED terminal services web page of El Paso International Airport (please note the international part) has only two entries, one about an obscure multishop of sorts and another about… shoeshines! (Not to mention that it was last updated in 2009!)

I have nothing against shoeshines. But for an international airport’s services web page to feature shoeshines with two-thirds of its photographic material is so absurd (if not offensive) that it becomes hilarious!

What else can I say?

So here’s why I included El Paso International Airport’s Website in America’s 10 worst airport websites:

  • Terrible (really) “Terminal – Services” (sic) web page with no useful info, outdated data and more. Must be seen to be believed!
  • No driving directions.
  • No email address to contact the airport.
  • No mention of accessibility services or facilities for travellers with special needs throughout their website.
  • No directions or symbols for any facilities for travellers with special needs in their terminal maps.
